Lymphatic drainage

Lymphatic drainage

Lymph drainage is a special type of medical massage. The transport of the lymph fluid in the lymph vessels is stimulated by gentle grip techniques.

It is a component of the complex physical decongestive therapy (KPE) for the treatment of lymph and lipedema patients. It is also used after severe orthopedic injuries or surgery to reduce symptoms such as swelling and pain.

Legs and arms: most common areas of application for lymphatic drainage
First and foremost, manual lymphatic drainage decongests the tissue and accelerates the flow of lymph. Arms or legs are most commonly affected. However, the torso, neck and head area or genital area can also be affected by lymphedema.

Manual lymphatic drainage has other positive effects: thanks to the even and gentle movements, patients often find the treatment soothing and relaxing.
